Calahonda is an attractive small urbanisation just 25 minutes south of Malaga airport, nestling on the side of a hill overlooking the ocean. Our villa is in a quiet residential street with spectacular views of the ocean and the mountains behind. The nearest beach is a 5 to 10 minute drive away, or if you prefer it a 20 minute walk. There are restaurants and supermarkets in the urbanisation but for more varied shopping, the La Cañada Shopping Mall is around 10 minutes drive away.
The Costa del Sol is one of the best destinations in Europe, offering a wonderful climate, plenty of beaches, golf courses, water parks, water sports, shopping, restaurants and night life as well as a plethora of places to visit all within easy reach.
Amongst many other opportunities, you can choose from visits to Mijas, a charming old Spanish village high up on the hillside, Ronda an hour away up in the mountains with its spectacular views and charming ambience, beautiful Marbella (including the "old town”) and Puerto Banus with its harbour full of luxury yachts, Estepona (including the old town) and extensive beach, the Rock of Gibraltar – a touch of old England and a fascinating place to see with its caves and monkeys - and also Morocco, taking a high speed boat across the Mediterranean to places like Tangier – a chance to see another world just a few minutes ride away from the southern tip of Europe. Granada, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada is only an hour and a half away on easy dual carriageways and offers Moorish palaces and Christian Renaissance treasures. Other local attractions include the Zoo at Fuengirola, and in Benalmadena, a new Butterfly Park (Mariposario) - the largest in Spain, as well as the Teleferico Cable Car and the Sea Life Centre. Also Selwo Adventure Park, Dolphin Safaris, Spanish Ballet, Flamenco Dancing, Gibralfaro Castle and La Liga soccer in Malaga.
